Next Outing - The Great Canoe Race, June 18-19, Camp Hahobas' Robbins Lake

Permission slip, medical form, and printable info

Are you ready for some Competition? Some wet and wild activity? Well, then, The GREAT Canoe Race is just for you!

On June 19th, Pacific Harbors Council and Camp Hahobas are hosting The GREAT Canoe Race and the Troop aims to lead the pack.

The events are as follows:
1. Short Sprint:
This will be the first event of the day. It will be a straight line route with no turns.
2. Mid Sprint: This is a round trip event and will, therefore, require a 180-degree turn at the return point.
3. Relay: This event includes two canoes where, at a fixed zone in the course, the bow paddler in one canoe hands a baton to the stern paddler in the other canoe.
4. Men Overboard: Participants will paddle out past a fixed point, and both paddlers will jump out of their canoe, re-enter, and race back to the finish line.
5. Deepwater Swamped Canoe Recovery: This race requires two canoes per team. Paddlers in the first canoe will paddle out to a fixed point. At the go command, paddlers in the second canoe will paddle out near the first canoe and then capsize their canoe (the canoe must be fully capsized). Using the assistance of the first (unswamped) canoe, participants recover the swamped canoe. The now-recovered (previously swamped) canoe will then race back to the finish line.
